About the Show (From ABC.COM)
Honored with the Banff Television Best Series Award, the American Bar Association's
Silver Gavel Award and nominations for Best Drama from the Viewers for Quality Television
and the Television Critics Associations, THE PRACTICE boldly enters its third season on
the ABC Television Network.
The action this season remains in the courtroom, where the clients are guilty more
often than they are innocent; counsel, defendants and judges are all capable of
dishonorable conduct; and justice is not always served. Bobby Donnell and every member of
his team wage personal battles between their consciences and their legal expertise. They
may know a client is guilty of a heinous murder, but they believe he's entitled to the
best defense, and what's more, they know they can get him off. Moral ambiguity is a way of
life.
However, changes are afoot. Donnell & Associates is now Donnell, Young, Dole &
Frutt. Even paralegal/office manager/receptionist Rebecca Washington has been granted some
of the privileges of partnership. Despite having fought the case of his career against
Boston Power and surviving three bullets, a disgruntled Jimmy Berluti still has to put in
another year before he can join their ranks.
Lindsay Dole instigated the push for partnership, but her ambitions won't end there. In
the coming season, she will lock in new, respectable business clients; redecorate the
office and try to persuade Helen Gamble to join the firm. Her efforts will not be met
without conflict. After all, her colleagues like this firm. Bobby, Eugene and Ellenor may
frequently question their beliefs in what is right and wrong, but they don't want anyone
dictating the answers to them in order to appease cleaner, more conservative clients.
As for Helen, she will find the offer to join the group intriguing. Shocked by the
idea, Bobby could reveal that perhaps the heat between the two of them has never
completely died out.
Dylan McDermott stars as Bobby Donnell, Michael Badalucco as Jimmy Berluti, LisaGay
Hamilton as Rebecca Washington, Steve Harris as Eugene Young, Camryn Manheim as Ellenor
Frutt, Kelli Williams as Lindsay Dole and Lara Flynn Boyle as Helen Gamble.
Created and executive produced by David E. Kelley, the series is co-executive produced
by Jeffrey Kramer and Robert Breech. "The Practice" is a David E. Kelley
Production in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television. The series premiered on
March 4, 1997.
